Job Description
We are seeking a diligent and detail-oriented Remote Building Permit Processor to join our local government team. This is a 100% remote position, allowing you to contribute to Mirabel’s development from anywhere in Quebec. The successful candidate will be responsible for reviewing, processing, and issuing various building permits, ensuring compliance with municipal bylaws, zoning regulations, and building codes. You will play a crucial role in facilitating safe and compliant construction and renovation projects within our community. This role requires strong organizational skills, excellent attention to detail, and the ability to work independently in a virtual environment.
Key Responsibilities
- Process building permit applications from submission to issuance, ensuring completeness and accuracy.
- Review submitted plans and documents for compliance with municipal bylaws, zoning regulations, and provincial building codes.
- Communicate with applicants, contractors, and internal departments to clarify information, resolve discrepancies, and provide status updates.
- Maintain accurate records of all permit applications, approvals, and related documentation in the municipal database.
- Calculate permit fees and coordinate payment processes.
- Assist in preparing reports on permit activity and related metrics.
- Respond to inquiries from the public regarding permit requirements and application procedures.
- Collaborate with inspectors and urban planning officials to ensure coordinated project execution.
- Stay informed of changes to relevant building codes, bylaws, and municipal policies.
Required Skills
- Minimum 1 year of experience in administrative support, data entry, or permit processing.
- Proficiency in French (written and spoken) is essential for communication with residents and internal teams.
- Strong organizational skills and exceptional attention to detail.
- Ability to interpret technical documents, plans, and regulatory text.
- Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, Outlook).
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
- Ability to work independently and manage time effectively in a remote setting.
- Familiarity with municipal operations or permitting processes is an asset.
Preferred Qualifications
- College diploma or AEC in urban planning, building technology, or a related administrative field.
- Experience with municipal permit software or CRM systems.
- Knowledge of Quebec's building codes and construction industry practices.
- Bilingualism (French and English) is considered a strong asset.
