Job Description
We are seeking a dedicated and enthusiastic Science Lab Assistant to join our High School Department. This vital role supports our science teachers and students by ensuring the smooth and safe operation of our school laboratories. The ideal candidate will be passionate about science education, meticulous in their work, and committed to providing an excellent learning experience. This position is suitable for someone eager to contribute to a thriving educational environment and develop their skills in laboratory management and support.
Key Responsibilities
- Prepare and set up laboratory equipment and materials for practical lessons and experiments across various science disciplines (Biology, Chemistry, Physics).
- Maintain an organised and clean laboratory environment, including proper storage of chemicals and apparatus.
- Assist teachers and students during practical sessions, providing technical support and guidance as needed.
- Monitor and manage inventory of laboratory supplies, ordering new stock when necessary.
- Ensure all laboratory activities comply with health and safety regulations, conducting regular checks on equipment and chemicals.
- Calibrate and maintain scientific instruments, performing minor repairs or arranging for professional servicing.
- Dispose of chemical waste and biological materials safely and according to established protocols.
- Assist in the development and modification of practical experiments and demonstrations.
