Job Description
We are seeking a highly motivated and experienced Senior Financial Accountant to join our dynamic finance team based in Leeds City Centre. This pivotal role requires a qualified accountant with a strong technical background and a proven track record in financial reporting, analysis, and control within a large, complex organization. The successful candidate will be instrumental in ensuring the accuracy and integrity of our financial statements, providing critical insights to management, and driving continuous improvement in our financial processes. Key Responsibilities
- Manage the end-to-end financial reporting process, ensuring compliance with IFRS/UK GAAP and internal policies.
- Prepare and review monthly, quarterly, and annual financial statements, including balance sheet, profit & loss, and cash flow statements.
- Conduct in-depth financial analysis, providing commentary and insights on performance variances to budget and forecast.
- Oversee general ledger activities, ensuring accurate and timely reconciliation of accounts.
- Act as a key point of contact for external auditors, managing audit requests and ensuring timely completion of audit fieldwork.
- Lead on the implementation of new accounting standards and financial systems improvements.
- Develop and maintain robust internal controls to safeguard company assets and ensure data integrity.
- Mentor and support junior members of the finance team.
- Collaborate with other departments to support business objectives and financial decision-making.
Required Skills
- ACCA, CIMA, or ACA qualification (or equivalent international qualification)
- Minimum of 5 years post-qualification experience in a financial accounting role, preferably within a large multinational environment
- Strong technical knowledge of IFRS and UK GAAP
- Proficiency in advanced Excel (VLOOKUP, pivot tables, complex formulas)
- Experience with large ERP systems (e.g., SAP, Oracle)
- Excellent analytical, problem-solving, and communication skills
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team in a fast-paced environment
- Demonstrated ability to meet strict deadlines and manage multiple priorities
Preferred Qualifications
- Experience with Power BI or other data visualization tools
- Previous experience working in professional services or a similarly complex industry
- Experience in process improvement initiatives and system implementations
