Job Description
We are seeking a talented Game Programmer to join our passionate and innovative team. As a Game Programmer at Frontier Developments, you will contribute to the development of our exciting new projects, working on various aspects of game systems, features, and tools. This role offers an excellent opportunity to apply your programming skills in a creative environment and make a tangible impact on world-class games. You will collaborate closely with designers, artists, and other programmers to bring our game visions to life.
Key Responsibilities
- Design, implement, and maintain robust and efficient game code in C++.
- Collaborate with game designers and artists to translate concepts into technical requirements and playable features.
- Develop and optimize various game systems, including gameplay mechanics, AI, UI, physics, and networking.
- Participate in code reviews, sharing knowledge and ensuring code quality across the team.
- Debug and resolve issues across multiple platforms and systems.
- Contribute to the continuous improvement of our development processes and tools.
- Stay up-to-date with industry trends and new technologies to inform development decisions.
Required Skills
- Proficiency in C++ programming.
- Strong understanding of data structures and algorithms.
- Experience with game engines (e.g., Unreal Engine, Unity, or proprietary engines).
- Familiarity with version control systems (e.g., Perforce, Git).
- Excellent problem-solving and debugging skills.
- Ability to work effectively both independently and as part of a team.
- Passion for video games and game development.
Preferred Qualifications
- A degree in Computer Science, Game Programming, or a related field.
- Experience with console development (PlayStation, Xbox).
- Knowledge of scripting languages (e.g., Python, Lua).
- Understanding of multithreaded programming.
- Experience with performance profiling and optimization techniques.
- Portfolio demonstrating relevant game development projects.
