Job Description

We are seeking a highly motivated and experienced Social Worker to join our Child Protection team. This pivotal role involves safeguarding vulnerable children, assessing risk, and implementing care plans to ensure their safety and promote their welfare. You will work within a supportive team structure, collaborating with families, other professionals, and partner agencies to provide comprehensive interventions. Key Responsibilities

  • Manage a diverse caseload of child protection cases, ensuring timely and effective interventions.
  • Conduct thorough assessments of children's needs and risks within their families and communities.
  • Develop, implement, and review child protection plans in collaboration with children, families, and multi-agency partners.
  • Undertake direct work with children and families to address identified needs and achieve positive outcomes.
  • Prepare comprehensive reports and statements for child protection conferences and court proceedings.
  • Participate in duty rotas and respond to urgent safeguarding concerns.
  • Maintain accurate and up-to-date case records in accordance with statutory and local policies.
  • Attend and contribute to supervision, team meetings, and professional development sessions.

Required Skills

  • A recognised Social Work qualification (e.g., BA Hons Social Work, DipSW, CQSW).
  • Current registration with Social Work England (or eligibility for registration if relocating).
  • Minimum of 2 years post-qualifying experience in Child Protection or a related statutory children's social care setting.
  • Demonstrable knowledge of relevant children's legislation, policies, and procedures.
  • Proven ability to undertake complex assessments and formulate effective plans.
  • Excellent communication, analytical, and report-writing skills.
  • Commitment to anti-discriminatory practice and promoting diversity.
  • Full UK driving license and access to a car for work purposes.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Experience of working with diverse cultural backgrounds.
  • Evidence of continuing professional development in child protection or related fields.
  • Experience in court work and giving evidence in care proceedings.
