Job Description
As a Superintendent Pharmacist at Boots UK, you will hold a pivotal leadership role, responsible for the overall clinical governance, professional standards, and operational excellence of our pharmacy services within your designated area. You will ensure compliance with all pharmaceutical legislation, GPhC standards, and company policies, while driving continuous improvement in patient care and service delivery. This role demands exceptional leadership, strategic thinking, and a deep commitment to professional integrity.
Key Responsibilities
- Oversee and maintain the highest standards of clinical governance and professional practice across all designated pharmacies.
- Ensure full compliance with all relevant pharmacy legislation, GPhC standards, and company operating procedures.
- Lead, mentor, and develop pharmacy teams, fostering a culture of excellence, patient safety, and continuous learning.
- Act as the Responsible Pharmacist for the company where required, upholding the legal and ethical obligations.
- Implement and monitor robust quality assurance processes and risk management strategies.
- Collaborate with internal stakeholders to drive innovative pharmacy services and enhance patient outcomes.
- Manage and resolve complex professional and ethical dilemmas, providing expert guidance.
- Ensure effective management of controlled drugs and adherence to all associated regulations.
- Take ultimate responsibility for the safe and effective supply of medicines.
Required Skills
- Registered Pharmacist with the General Pharmaceutical Council (GPhC) with a proven track record.
- Significant post-registration experience (minimum 5 years) in a leadership or senior pharmacy role.
- In-depth knowledge of UK pharmacy law, ethics, and GPhC standards.
- Demonstrated ability to lead, motivate, and develop large pharmacy teams.
- Excellent communication, interpersonal, and problem-solving skills.
- Strong commercial acumen and understanding of pharmacy operations.
- Commitment to continuous professional development.
Preferred Qualifications
- Independent Prescribing qualification.
- Master's degree in a relevant field (e.g., Clinical Pharmacy, Pharmacy Law).
- Experience working across multiple pharmacy sites or a regional role.
- Project management experience in a healthcare setting.
