Job Description
Fargo Public Schools is seeking a dedicated and empathetic Special Needs Transport Assistant to support our students with special needs. This vital part-time role involves assisting students during their commute to and from school, ensuring a safe, comfortable, and positive experience. The position features split shifts, making it an ideal opportunity for parents looking for work that aligns with school schedules. You will be a crucial link in our students’ daily routine, providing personal support and care, and helping them start and end their school day successfully.
Key Responsibilities
- Assist students with special needs in safely boarding and disembarking school transportation.
- Monitor students during transit, ensuring their comfort, safety, and well-being.
- Provide individualized support and attention as needed, including assistance with mobility aids or other personal requirements.
- Communicate effectively with drivers, school staff, and parents regarding student needs or any incidents.
- Maintain a calm, supportive, and patient demeanor with all students.
- Ensure all safety protocols and procedures are followed at all times.
Required Skills
- Strong sense of empathy, patience, and compassion for children.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
