Job Description
We are looking for a dedicated and creative Specialty Baker to join our team at Dakota Doughnut & Bakery. This is a unique opportunity for an experienced baker who is passionate about crafting high-quality baked goods. You will be instrumental in the production of our signature items, including a variety of specialty doughnuts, pastries, cakes, and artisan breads, adhering to our strict standards for quality and presentation. This position is open to qualified candidates requiring LMIA and Skilled Worker Visa support, demonstrating our commitment to finding the best talent globally.
Key Responsibilities
- Prepare a wide range of specialty baked goods according to established recipes and production schedules.
- Operate and maintain baking equipment such as mixers, ovens, and proofers.
- Decorate and finish cakes, pastries, and other items with precision and artistic flair.
- Monitor inventory levels of ingredients and supplies, assisting with ordering as needed.
- Ensure all products meet quality standards for taste, texture, and appearance.
- Adhere strictly to food safety and sanitation guidelines.
- Maintain a clean and organized workstation and production area.
- Collaborate with the head baker and kitchen team to develop new recipes and improve existing ones.
- Package finished products for display or customer orders.
- Assist with other kitchen duties as required.
Required Skills
- Proven experience as a baker, especially in a specialty bakery setting (minimum 2 years).
- Strong knowledge of baking techniques, ingredients, and equipment.
- Ability to follow recipes accurately and consistently.
- Excellent attention to detail and artistic ability for decorating.
- Understanding of food safety and sanitation regulations.
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team in a fast-paced environment.
- Good communication skills in English.
- Physical ability to stand for long periods, lift heavy ingredients, and work in a warm environment.
Preferred Qualifications
- Culinary arts degree or pastry certificate.
- Experience with various international baking traditions.
- Portfolio of previous baking and decorating work.
- Experience with large-scale production baking.
- Proficiency in additional languages.
