Job Description
Are you looking to kickstart a career in retail operations? Canadian Tire in Courtenay is seeking a motivated and energetic Stock Assistant to join our team! No prior experience is required, as we believe in fostering talent and providing comprehensive training for all new hires. This is an immediate start position, perfect for individuals eager to learn, contribute, and grow within a fast-paced retail environment. As a Stock Assistant, you will play a crucial role in ensuring our store shelves are well-stocked, organized, and ready for our customers, contributing directly to a positive shopping experience.
Key Responsibilities
- Receive, unload, and process incoming merchandise shipments efficiently and accurately.
- Organize and maintain the stockroom, ensuring all items are stored safely, logically, and accessible.
- Replenish sales floor with products from the stockroom as needed to maintain adequate inventory levels.
- Assist in conducting regular inventory counts and managing stock rotation to minimize waste.
- Ensure all merchandise is correctly priced and ticketed according to company standards.
- Maintain high standards of cleanliness and organization in the stockroom and back-of-house areas.
- Operate manual pallet jacks or other material handling equipment safely and responsibly (training provided).
- Adhere to all company safety and security policies and procedures.
Required Skills
- Ability to lift and move merchandise weighing up to 50 lbs comfortably and safely.
- Strong work ethic, punctuality, and a high level of reliability.
- Attention to detail and accuracy in tasks.
- Ability to work effectively and collaboratively as part of a team.
- Comfortable working in a fast-paced retail environment, including standing and walking for extended periods.
- Eagerness to learn new processes and take initiative.
Preferred Qualifications
- High school diploma or equivalent educational background.
- Basic understanding of retail operations or logistics principles.
- Familiarity with safety procedures in a warehouse or retail setting.
