Job Description

Are you a proactive, empathetic individual with a passion for community building? The University of Greenwich is seeking dedicated Student Housing Resident Advisors (RAs) to join our team in Woolwich, London. This unique live-in position offers a significant rent discount on your accommodation, making it an excellent opportunity to gain valuable leadership experience while pursuing your studies or starting your career in student support. As an RA, you will be at the heart of our residential community, responsible for fostering a positive living environment, providing guidance and support to residents, and ensuring the smooth operation of our student housing facilities.

Key Responsibilities

  • Serve as a primary resource and point of contact for residents within a designated student housing community.
  • Develop and implement community-building initiatives and social events to promote student engagement and connection.
  • Mediate conflicts and provide guidance on personal and academic challenges, referring students to appropriate university resources when necessary.
  • Enforce university housing policies and procedures fairly and consistently, ensuring a safe and respectful environment.
  • Conduct regular welfare checks and maintain an approachable presence within the residence hall.
  • Respond to emergencies and critical incidents, escalating issues to professional staff as required.
  • Participate in an on-call rotation to provide support during evenings, weekends, and holidays.
  • Assist with student check-ins and check-outs, and other administrative tasks as needed.
  • Collaborate with housing staff and other university departments to enhance the overall student experience.

  • First Aid certification (training can be provided).
