Job Description
Are you looking to kickstart a rewarding career in the auto insurance industry? Intact Insurance is seeking an enthusiastic and detail-oriented individual to join our team as a Vehicle Damage Estimator (Trainee) in our Gravenhurst office. This is an incredible entry-level opportunity for someone passionate about cars and ready to learn. No prior experience in vehicle estimation or the insurance industry is required; we provide comprehensive, hands-on training to equip you with all the skills needed to succeed. You will learn to assess vehicle damage, prepare accurate repair estimates, and guide our customers through the claims process with empathy and professionalism.
Key Responsibilities
- Participate in a structured training program to learn all aspects of vehicle damage estimation.
- Under the guidance of experienced estimators, inspect damaged vehicles to identify and document all areas of impact.
- Utilize specialized software and tools to prepare accurate and timely repair estimates.
- Communicate effectively with policyholders, repair shops, and internal teams regarding estimates and claims status.
- Ensure all estimates comply with company guidelines, industry standards, and regulatory requirements.
- Assist in maintaining organized claim files and documentation.
- Continuously develop knowledge of vehicle construction, repair techniques, and relevant technology.
- Provide exceptional customer service throughout the claims process.
Required Skills
- High school diploma or equivalent.
- Valid G-class driver's license with a clean driving record.
- Strong attention to detail and a methodical approach to problem-solving.
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
- Basic computer proficiency and willingness to learn new software.
- A strong desire to learn and develop new technical skills.
- Ability to work effectively both independently and as part of a team.
- Customer-service oriented mindset.
Preferred Qualifications
- Post-secondary education in a related field (e.g., automotive technology, business administration).
- Previous experience in a customer service role.
- Mechanical aptitude or an interest in automotive repair.
- Familiarity with estimating software (e.g., Audatex, Mitchell) is a plus, but not required.
