Job Description
We are seeking dedicated and physically fit individuals to join our team as Sugar Refinery Sweepers. This is a critical role in maintaining the operational integrity and safety of a bustling heavy industrial sugar refinery. You will be responsible for general site cleanliness, waste management, and supporting the smooth operation of our client’s facility through meticulous sweeping, cleaning, and material handling tasks. This role involves shift work in a demanding but rewarding industrial environment.
Key Responsibilities
- Perform extensive sweeping, vacuuming, and general cleaning of production areas, warehouses, and outdoor spaces within the sugar refinery.
- Operate industrial cleaning equipment safely and efficiently, including walk-behind and ride-on sweepers.
- Collect and dispose of waste materials, including sugar residue, dust, and general rubbish, adhering to environmental and safety guidelines.
- Monitor and maintain cleanliness standards across designated zones, identifying and addressing areas requiring attention.
- Assist with the basic organization and material movement as directed, contributing to a tidy and functional workspace.
- Adhere strictly to all health, safety, and environmental policies and procedures, including wearing appropriate Personal Protective Equipment (PPE).
- Work effectively as part of a team, communicating any issues or safety concerns to supervisors promptly.
Required Skills
- Physical fitness and stamina to perform demanding tasks, including standing, bending, lifting, and repetitive motions for extended periods.
- Strong work ethic and reliability, with a commitment to showing up on time for all shifts.
- Attention to detail and a proactive approach to maintaining cleanliness standards.
- Ability to follow instructions and safety protocols diligently.
- Comfortable working in a heavy industrial environment which may include dust, noise, and varying temperatures.
- Willingness to work a rotating shift schedule (days, nights, weekends).
Preferred Qualifications
- Previous experience in an industrial, factory, or heavy manufacturing environment.
- Experience operating industrial cleaning equipment (e.g., sweepers, scrubbers).
- A valid New Zealand driver's license.
