Job Description

We are seeking a highly motivated and creative Textile Design Intern with demonstrable apparel industry experience (through academic projects, personal portfolio, or prior internships) to join our design team in Bristol. This internship offers a unique opportunity to gain hands-on experience in textile design within a fast-paced and collaborative apparel environment. You will support our Senior Designers in various stages of the design process, from concept development to final product, contributing your fresh ideas and technical skills to our upcoming collections.

Key Responsibilities

  • Assist the design team in researching and developing seasonal trends, color palettes, and textile concepts.
  • Contribute to the creation of original print designs, patterns, and graphics for apparel products.
  • Prepare design boards, mood boards, and presentation materials for internal reviews.
  • Support in the selection and specification of fabrics, trims, and embellishments.
  • Digitize and adapt artwork for different garment styles and production techniques.
  • Collaborate with product development and sourcing teams to ensure design integrity and manufacturability.
  • Maintain organized design files and libraries.
  • Participate in design critiques and team meetings, offering constructive input.

Required Skills

  • Strong portfolio demonstrating textile design skills relevant to the apparel industry.
  • Proficiency in Adobe Creative Suite (Illustrator, Photoshop, InDesign).
  • Excellent understanding of color theory, pattern repeat, and textile printing techniques.
  • Ability to work effectively in a team environment and take direction.
  • Strong communication and presentation skills.
  • Keen eye for detail and a passion for fashion and textile design.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Currently enrolled in or recently graduated from a Bachelor's or Master's degree program in Textile Design, Fashion Design, or a related field.
  • Previous internship experience in an apparel or fashion company.
  • Knowledge of sustainable textile practices and materials.
  • Hand drawing and sketching abilities.
