Job Description
Are you passionate about the magic of live theatre and eager to learn what goes on behind the scenes? The Dandenong Arts Centre is offering an exciting entry-level Theatre Production Internship focusing on Backstage and Lighting. This hands-on internship is designed for individuals with little to no prior experience, providing comprehensive training and mentorship. You will work alongside our experienced technical team, gaining invaluable practical skills in the setup, operation, and maintenance of lighting equipment, as well as general backstage operations for various productions.
Key Responsibilities
- Assist the lighting designer and technicians with the setup, focusing, and programming of lighting equipment for various productions.
- Learn about and help with the maintenance and repair of lighting fixtures and other backstage equipment.
- Support the stage management team during rehearsals and live performances, including prop management and scene changes.
- Participate in the load-in and load-out processes for productions, ensuring efficient and safe handling of equipment.
- Observe and contribute to sound setup and operation as needed, gaining a broader understanding of technical theatre.
- Adhere to all safety protocols and best practices in a theatre production environment.
- Collaborate effectively with technical staff, performers, and other team members to ensure smooth operations.
