Job Description
We are seeking a proactive and customer-focused Ticketing Officer to join our transit system team in Dandenong. In this vital front-line role, you will be the first point of contact for many passengers, providing essential ticketing services, information, and assistance to ensure a smooth and pleasant travel experience. This role requires excellent communication skills, a keen eye for detail when handling transactions, and a commitment to delivering outstanding customer service.
Key Responsibilities
- Process ticket sales, top-ups, and various fare products accurately using ticketing systems.
- Assist passengers with enquiries regarding routes, timetables, fares, and general travel information.
- Manage cash and electronic payments, ensuring accurate reconciliation at the end of shifts.
- Provide clear and concise information on service disruptions, alternative transport, and safety guidelines.
- Resolve customer complaints and provide solutions in a professional and empathetic manner.
- Maintain a clean, organised, and secure ticketing booth or customer service area.
- Collaborate with other station staff and operations teams to ensure seamless service delivery.
- Adhere to all company policies, procedures, and safety regulations.
Required Skills
- Excellent customer service and interpersonal skills.
- Strong verbal and written communication abilities.
- Proven ability to handle cash and process transactions accurately.
- Basic computer literacy for operating ticketing systems.
- Problem-solving skills and the ability to remain calm under pressure.
- Reliability and flexibility to work a rotating roster, including early mornings, late nights, weekends, and public holidays.
- A commitment to safety and adherence to operational procedures.
Preferred Qualifications
- Previous experience in a customer service, retail, or ticketing environment.
- Familiarity with the Victorian public transport network, particularly the Metro Trains Melbourne system.
- Ability to speak languages other than English.
- Current First Aid certification.
