Job Description
We are seeking a dedicated and experienced Trademark Attorney to join our esteemed Intellectual Property team in Exeter. This pivotal role involves managing a diverse portfolio of trademark matters for clients ranging from startups to multinational corporations. The successful candidate will be instrumental in advising on trademark strategy, prosecution, enforcement, and opposition proceedings. Key Responsibilities
- Provide expert advice on trademark strategy, clearance, and portfolio management.
- Draft, file, and prosecute trademark applications in the UK, EU, and internationally.
- Handle trademark opposition, invalidation, and revocation actions.
- Advise on trademark infringement matters, including cease and desist letters and settlement negotiations.
- Conduct trademark due diligence for corporate transactions.
- Collaborate with colleagues across different legal teams to offer integrated client solutions.
- Stay abreast of developments in trademark law and practice.
- Represent clients in intellectual property disputes and negotiations.
- Manage client relationships and contribute to business development initiatives.
Required Skills
- Qualified Trademark Attorney (e.g., UK Chartered Trademark Attorney or European Trademark Attorney).
- Proven experience in trademark prosecution, enforcement, and advisory work.
- Strong understanding of national and international trademark law and practice.
- Excellent communication, negotiation, and analytical skills.
- Ability to manage a diverse caseload effectively and meet deadlines.
- High level of professionalism and client service orientation.
Preferred Qualifications
- Experience with design rights and other related intellectual property rights.
- Experience working in a large commercial law firm or an in-house IP department.
- A second European language would be advantageous.
- Familiarity with IP docketing software and systems.
