Job Description
We are seeking a diligent and independent Traffic Warden / Control Officer to join our dedicated team. This vital role involves enforcing parking regulations across Winchester, contributing directly to the smooth flow of traffic and the safety of pedestrians. You will work independently for much of your day, patrolling designated areas, identifying infringements, and issuing Penalty Charge Notices (PCNs) where appropriate. This position requires excellent observational skills, a strong sense of integrity, and the ability to communicate effectively with the public while upholding the city’s regulations. Key Responsibilities
- Patrol designated areas on foot or by vehicle to monitor parking compliance.
- Identify and document parking infringements in accordance with local and national regulations.
- Issue Penalty Charge Notices (PCNs) accurately and fairly.
- Provide advice and assistance to the public regarding parking regulations and local amenities.
- Operate and maintain handheld enforcement devices.
- Complete daily reports and maintain accurate records.
- Respond to queries and complaints from the public with professionalism and courtesy.
- Work independently to manage assigned routes and duties effectively.
- Report any suspicious activities or incidents to the relevant authorities.
Required Skills
- Ability to work independently and manage time effectively.

- Strong verbal communication skills for interacting with the public.
- A high degree of integrity and ability to follow procedures consistently.
- Basic literacy and numeracy skills for accurate record-keeping.
- Ability to walk and stand for extended periods in various weather conditions.

- Valid UK driving license (preferred but not always essential depending on route assignment).
Preferred Qualifications
- Previous experience in a public-facing role or enforcement capacity.
- Knowledge of local geography and parking regulations within Winchester.
- Experience using handheld electronic devices for data entry or enforcement.
