Job Description

Key Responsibilities
- Participate in a structured training program to learn environmental health legislation, regulations, and best practices.
- Assist experienced Environmental Health Officers in conducting site inspections and investigations of various premises, including restaurants, daycares, and public facilities.
- Learn to identify and assess environmental health hazards and risks.
- Support the drafting of reports and documentation related to inspections and enforcement actions.
- Contribute to public awareness campaigns on environmental health matters.
- Shadow officers responding to public inquiries and complaints related to environmental health.
- Develop an understanding of permit and licensing processes.
Required Skills
- Strong verbal and written communication skills in both French and English (bilingualism is a significant asset in Quebec).
- Excellent problem-solving and analytical abilities.
- Eagerness and capacity to learn complex regulations and scientific principles.
- Proficiency in basic computer applications (e.g., Microsoft Office Suite).
- Ability to work effectively both independently and as part of a team.
- A genuine interest in public health, environmental protection, and community well-being.
- No prior professional experience in environmental health is required.
Preferred Qualifications
- Completion of or enrolment in a post-secondary program in environmental science, public health, biology, chemistry, or a related field.
- Valid Quebec Class 5 driver's license (or equivalent) with a clean driving record.
- Experience in customer service or public interaction roles.
