Key Responsibilities
- Participate in a structured training program covering fire codes, regulations, and inspection procedures.
- Assist senior Fire Inspectors with routine fire safety inspections of various residential, commercial, and public buildings.
- Learn to identify fire hazards, code violations, and unsafe conditions.
- Observe and document inspection findings, maintaining accurate records and reports.
- Understand and apply fire prevention principles and local ordinances.
- Communicate effectively with property owners, managers, and the public regarding fire safety requirements and compliance.
- Assist in investigations of fire incidents under supervision.
- Attend workshops and seminars to stay current with fire safety standards and practices.
- Contribute to public education initiatives on fire safety awareness.
Required Skills
- High school diploma or GED.
- Valid Massachusetts Driver's License upon hire.
- Strong commitment to public safety and community service.
- Excellent observational skills and attention to detail.
- Ability to learn and apply complex technical information.
- Effective verbal and written communication skills.
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
- Proficiency in basic computer applications.
- Physical ability to navigate various building types and environments.
Preferred Qualifications
- Associate's or Bachelor's degree in Fire Science, Criminal Justice, Public Administration, or a related field.
- Prior experience in a customer service or public-facing role.
- Knowledge of basic building construction principles.
- CPR and First Aid certification.
