Job Description
We are seeking a motivated and enthusiastic Vacation Intern to join our Mechanical Engineering team in Launceston. This internship offers a unique opportunity to gain practical, hands-on experience in a dynamic industrial environment. You will work alongside experienced engineers on real-world projects, contributing to the design, analysis, and optimization of mechanical systems. This role is ideal for engineering students looking to apply their academic knowledge, develop new skills, and explore career paths within the resources sector.
Key Responsibilities
- Assist senior engineers with the design, analysis, and modification of mechanical equipment and systems.
- Conduct research and gather data to support engineering projects and problem-solving initiatives.
- Participate in site inspections and equipment assessments, documenting findings and recommendations.
- Prepare technical reports, presentations, and engineering documentation under guidance.
- Collaborate with cross-functional teams to ensure project objectives are met.
- Contribute to continuous improvement initiatives and safety protocols.
- Learn and apply industry-standard software tools for mechanical engineering tasks.
Required Skills
- Currently enrolled in a Bachelor's or Master's degree program in Mechanical Engineering or a related field.
- Strong foundational understanding of mechanical engineering principles (mechanics, thermodynamics, fluid dynamics, materials science).
- Excellent problem-solving and analytical abilities.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, PowerPoint).
- Strong written and verbal communication skills.
- Ability to work effectively both independently and as part of a team.
- Demonstrated enthusiasm for learning and a proactive attitude.
Preferred Qualifications
- Prior experience with CAD software (e.g., SolidWorks, AutoCAD, Inventor).
