Job Description
We are seeking a compassionate and dedicated Entry-Level Victim Advocate to join our team in Green Bay. This is a unique opportunity for individuals passionate about social justice and supporting vulnerable populations, even without prior experience. As a Victim Advocate, you will provide crucial support, guidance, and resources to victims of crime, helping them navigate complex legal and social service systems. Full training will be provided to equip you with the knowledge and skills necessary to excel in this rewarding public sector role. You will work closely with law enforcement, legal professionals, and community organizations to ensure victims receive comprehensive and empathetic care. This role requires a strong sense of empathy, excellent communication skills, and a commitment to serving the community.
Key Responsibilities
- Provide crisis intervention and emotional support to victims of crime.
- Explain victims' rights and the criminal justice process in a clear and understandable manner.
- Assist victims with completing compensation claims, victim impact statements, and other necessary paperwork.
- Refer victims to appropriate community resources, including counseling, housing, and financial assistance.
- Advocate on behalf of victims with law enforcement, prosecutors, and other agencies.
- Accompany victims to court proceedings, interviews, and other appointments as needed.
- Maintain accurate and confidential client records.
- Participate in ongoing training and professional development activities.
- Collaborate with team members and external partners to ensure comprehensive victim support.
Required Skills

- High degree of empathy, patience, and non-judgmental attitude.
- Ability to remain calm and effective in high-stress situations.
- Basic computer proficiency (e.g., Microsoft Office Suite).

- Commitment to maintaining strict confidentiality.
- Valid driver's license and reliable transportation (for community outreach).
Preferred Qualifications
- Associate's or Bachelor's degree in Social Work, Criminal Justice, Psychology, or related field.
- Bilingual proficiency (especially Spanish, Hmong, or other languages prevalent in the community).
- Volunteer experience in a helping profession or community service.
- Familiarity with local community resources in Brown County.
