Job Description

We are seeking an experienced and passionate Viticulturist / Vineyard Manager to oversee the cultivation, management, and strategic development of our specialized viticulture assets. This role is crucial for maintaining the highest standards of grape quality and vineyard health, contributing to our long-term vision. The successful candidate will be responsible for all aspects of vineyard operations, from soil management and irrigation to pest control, harvest planning, and team leadership, potentially across diverse international locations. Key Responsibilities

  • Develop and implement comprehensive vineyard management plans, including pruning, canopy management, irrigation, and fertilization strategies.
  • Monitor vineyard health, identify and manage pests, diseases, and nutritional deficiencies using sustainable practices.
  • Oversee all aspects of grape production, ensuring optimal quality and yield aligned with winemaking objectives.
  • Manage vineyard equipment maintenance and operations.
  • Lead, mentor, and train vineyard staff, fostering a culture of safety and excellence.
  • Develop and manage the vineyard budget, ensuring cost-effective operations.
  • Collaborate with winemakers, consultants, and other stakeholders to achieve desired grape profiles.
  • Stay abreast of industry trends, research, and best practices in viticulture.
  • Ensure compliance with all relevant agricultural regulations and environmental standards.
  • Report regularly on vineyard status, performance, and strategic recommendations.

Required Skills

  • Proven experience in viticulture and vineyard management.
  • Strong knowledge of grape varietals, viticultural practices, and vineyard physiology.
  • Expertise in soil science, irrigation, plant nutrition, and pest/disease management.
  • Demonstrated leadership and team management abilities.
  • Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills.
  • Ability to work independently and make informed decisions.
  • Proficiency in agricultural software and data analysis.
  • Valid driver's license.
  • Fluency in English; additional language skills beneficial for international operations.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Bachelor's or Master's degree in Viticulture, Enology, Agronomy, or a related field.
  • Experience with organic or biodynamic farming practices.
  • International vineyard management experience.
  • Familiarity with winemaking processes.
  • Certifications in pesticide application or sustainable agriculture.
