Job Description
We are seeking a highly motivated and skilled Site Reliability Engineer to join our dynamic team in Falkirk. This role is crucial for ensuring the uptime, performance, and scalability of our critical cloud infrastructure. You will be responsible for designing, implementing, and maintaining automated solutions that improve our system reliability, efficiency, and overall operational excellence. Key Responsibilities
- Design, implement, and maintain scalable and fault-tolerant systems.
- Develop and improve monitoring and alerting systems to ensure high availability and performance.
- Automate operational tasks and improve infrastructure as code practices.
- Participate in on-call rotations to support our services, troubleshooting and resolving production issues.
- Conduct post-incident reviews to identify root causes and implement preventative measures.
- Collaborate with development teams to ensure new features are designed with reliability in mind.
- Implement and enforce security best practices across our infrastructure.
- Contribute to capacity planning and performance analysis.
- Mentor junior engineers and share knowledge within the team.
Required Skills
- Proficiency in at least one scripting language (Python, Go, Ruby, Bash).
- Strong understanding of Linux operating systems and networking fundamentals.
- Experience with cloud platforms (AWS, Azure, GCP).
- Familiarity with containerization technologies (Docker, Kubernetes).
- Experience with CI/CD pipelines and tools (e.g., Jenkins, GitLab CI).
- Solid understanding of monitoring and logging tools (e.g., Prometheus, Grafana, ELK stack).
- Strong problem-solving and analytical skills.
- Excellent communication and collaboration abilities.
Preferred Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or a related field.
- Experience with infrastructure as code tools (Terraform, CloudFormation, Ansible).
- Knowledge of distributed systems design and microservices architectures.
- Experience with database technologies (SQL and NoSQL).
- Relevant AWS Certifications (e.g., Solutions Architect, DevOps Engineer).
