Job Description
Are you a creative and energetic individual with a passion for video storytelling and a deep connection to the Sunderland community? The Sunderland Echo is seeking a talented Vlogger to become the face of our digital content. In this exciting on-site role, you will be responsible for planning, filming, editing, and publishing compelling video content that highlights local news, events, community stories, and features across Sunderland. You’ll engage directly with our audience, bringing local narratives to life through dynamic visuals and an authentic on-camera presence.
Key Responsibilities
- Plan, script, shoot, and edit original video content for various digital platforms, including social media and our website.
- Develop engaging story ideas around local news, events, community features, interviews, and human interest stories within Sunderland.
- Appear confidently and authentically on camera, representing the Sunderland Echo brand.
- Engage with the local community, conducting interviews and reporting from different locations across Sunderland.
- Optimize video content for maximum reach and engagement across platforms like YouTube, Facebook, Instagram, and TikTok.
- Stay up-to-date with current vlogging trends, video production techniques, and social media best practices.
- Collaborate with editorial and marketing teams to align video content with broader content strategies.
Required Skills
- Strong, engaging on-camera presence and excellent verbal communication skills.
- Proficiency in video shooting and editing software (e.g., Adobe Premiere Pro, Final Cut Pro).
- Demonstrated ability to craft compelling visual stories.
- Good understanding of various social media platforms and their video content requirements.
- Ability to work independently and manage multiple projects simultaneously to meet deadlines.
- Full UK driving license and access to a vehicle for on-location shoots across Sunderland.
Preferred Qualifications
- Degree or equivalent qualification in Media Production, Journalism, Film Studies, or a related field.
- A portfolio or showreel of previous vlogging or video production work.
- Experience with live streaming.
- In-depth knowledge of Sunderland and its surrounding areas, including local events, history, and community groups.
