Job Description
Are you passionate about making a tangible difference in your community? United Way of Lake County is seeking a dedicated Volunteer Coordination & Management Intern to support our vital programs and initiatives. This internship offers a unique opportunity to gain hands-on experience in the non-profit sector, specifically in the critical area of volunteer engagement. You will play a key role in recruiting, onboarding, and managing our incredible volunteer base, ensuring they have a positive and impactful experience while contributing to our mission. This is an ideal role for someone eager to learn about community impact, organizational management, and the power of collective action. Full training and mentorship will be provided, making this an excellent entry-point into the non-profit world.
Key Responsibilities
- Assist with the recruitment, screening, and onboarding of new volunteers.
- Support the scheduling and coordination of volunteers for various programs and events.
- Maintain and update volunteer databases and records, ensuring accuracy and confidentiality.
- Communicate effectively with volunteers regarding opportunities, schedules, and program updates.
- Help organize and facilitate volunteer orientation sessions and appreciation events.
- Assist in developing volunteer recognition strategies and initiatives.
- Provide administrative support to the Volunteer Engagement Manager.
- Contribute to the creation of promotional materials for volunteer recruitment.
- Respond to volunteer inquiries and provide timely assistance.
Required Skills

- Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, Outlook).
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team.

Preferred Qualifications
- Currently pursuing or recently completed a degree in Non-profit Management, Communications, Social Work, Public Administration, or a related field.
