Job Description

Join our team as a Waste Transfer Attendant at a key council-managed waste transfer station in Belconnen, ACT. This role is crucial for maintaining the efficient and safe operation of the site, assisting the public, and ensuring waste is sorted and processed correctly. Key Responsibilities

  • Directing public and commercial vehicles to appropriate waste drop-off zones.
  • Assisting customers with waste disposal, providing information and guidance.
  • Monitoring waste streams for correct sorting and identifying hazardous materials.
  • Operating light machinery (e.g., skid steer, forklift) after appropriate training and certification.
  • Performing general site clean-up and maintenance tasks.
  • Adhering to all safety procedures and environmental regulations.
  • Completing daily operational logs and reports.
  • Working collaboratively with team members to ensure smooth site operations.

Required Skills

  • Ability to work effectively in an outdoor, industrial environment.
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills for customer interaction.
  • Commitment to workplace safety and following established procedures.
  • Ability to perform physical tasks, including standing, walking, and occasional lifting.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Current Australian Driver's License (Class C).
  • First Aid certification (or willingness to obtain).
  • Previous experience in a customer service or outdoor labor role.
