Job Description

We are seeking an experienced and highly skilled Watchmaking Lead to oversee our luxury service centre in Glenelg. This pivotal role involves leading a team of talented watchmakers, managing service operations, ensuring the highest quality repairs and restorations, and maintaining unparalleled client satisfaction. The Watchmaking Lead will be responsible for technical training, quality control, and ensuring adherence to brand standards for prestigious watch manufacturers. Key Responsibilities

  • Lead, mentor, and develop a team of watchmakers, fostering a collaborative and high-performing environment.
  • Manage the daily operations of the service centre, including workflow, scheduling, and inventory.
  • Perform complex repairs, servicing, and restoration of luxury mechanical and quartz timepieces.
  • Ensure all work meets the highest standards of quality, adhering strictly to brand specific guidelines and procedures.
  • Conduct thorough quality control checks on all completed repairs before dispatch.
  • Provide technical guidance and training to junior watchmakers and technicians.
  • Liaise with clients regarding repair status, technical issues, and estimates, ensuring clear communication and exceptional service.
  • Maintain accurate service records and documentation.
  • Manage spare parts inventory and ordering, ensuring optimal stock levels.
  • Stay updated with the latest advancements in watchmaking technology and repair techniques.

Required Skills

  • Minimum 5 years of experience in luxury watchmaking, with at least 2 years in a leadership or supervisory role.
  • Extensive experience with servicing and repairing high-end mechanical movements (e.g., Rolex, Omega, Patek Philippe, Cartier).
  • Proficiency in diagnosing complex watch issues and implementing effective solutions.
  • Strong understanding of horological principles, tools, and equipment.
  • Excellent manual dexterity and attention to detail.
  • Ability to work meticulously under a microscope for extended periods.
  • Strong leadership, communication, and interpersonal skills.
  • Proficiency in using watchmaking software and systems.

Preferred Qualifications

  • WOSTEP, SAWTA, or equivalent internationally recognized watchmaking certification.
  • Brand-specific certifications from major luxury watch manufacturers.
  • Experience with chronometry and advanced complication movements.
  • A passion for vintage watches and restoration.
