Job Description
Are you looking for an exciting entry-level opportunity to learn a valuable trade and operate heavy machinery? Red Rock Recycling Solutions is seeking a motivated and safety-conscious individual to join our team as a Scrap Metal Crane Operator Trainee. No prior experience is required – we provide comprehensive, hands-on training to teach you everything you need to know about operating overhead and mobile cranes used in our scrap metal yard. You will learn to safely handle, sort, and load various types of scrap metal, contributing directly to our recycling efforts and the efficient flow of our operations.
Key Responsibilities
- Participate actively in a structured training program to learn the safe and efficient operation of overhead and mobile cranes.
- Under direct supervision, learn to lift, move, and sort various types of scrap metal materials within the yard.
- Familiarize yourself with crane controls, safety protocols, and daily inspection procedures.
- Assist experienced operators with routine equipment checks and minor maintenance tasks.
- Adhere strictly to all company safety policies and procedures, including wearing required personal protective equipment (PPE).
- Communicate effectively with other team members regarding material handling and yard flow.
- Maintain a clean and organized work area.
- Demonstrate a strong commitment to learning and professional development.
Required Skills
- Eagerness and aptitude to learn heavy equipment operation.
- Strong commitment to workplace safety and following procedures.
- Ability to work in an outdoor industrial environment, often exposed to varying weather conditions.
- Physical stamina and ability to perform tasks such as climbing, standing, and lifting as required.
- Reliable attendance and punctuality.
- Valid driver's license.
- Must be able to pass a pre-employment drug screen and background check.
Preferred Qualifications
- High school diploma or GED equivalent.
- Basic mechanical aptitude or experience with tools.
- Previous experience in a labor-intensive role or outdoor work environment.
