Job Description

Northern Ireland Water is seeking enthusiastic and dedicated individuals for an Entry Level Water Conservation Surveyor role. This is a field-based position crucial to our mission of minimizing water loss across Derry/Londonderry and surrounding areas. No prior experience is required as full training will be provided, equipping you with the skills and knowledge needed to excel in this vital role. You will be instrumental in identifying and reporting leaks, engaging with customers, and contributing directly to water conservation efforts.

Key Responsibilities

  • Conduct field surveys to identify potential water leaks and wastage points within designated areas.
  • Operate specialist leak detection equipment (training provided).
  • Record detailed findings accurately using handheld devices and report back to the central team.
  • Engage with residents and businesses to explain water conservation initiatives and report potential issues.
  • Provide information and advice to customers regarding water efficiency.
  • Collaborate with engineering teams to provide essential data for repair planning.
  • Adhere to all health and safety regulations while performing duties in the field.
  • Maintain company vehicle and equipment in good working order.

Required Skills

  • No prior experience required – full training will be provided.
  • A valid UK driving licence is essential.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to interact professionally with the public.
  • A genuine interest in environmental conservation and sustainability.
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
  • Good problem-solving skills and attention to detail.
  • Basic IT literacy for data entry and reporting.
  • Willingness to work outdoors in various weather conditions.
