Job Description
Are you ready to make a tangible difference in people’s lives? ServiceMaster Restore in Lloydminster is seeking a dedicated and reliable Water Damage Restoration Assistant to join our on-call roster. This is an excellent opportunity for individuals eager to learn a skilled trade, work in a dynamic environment, and be a vital part of emergency response. No prior experience in restoration is required; we provide comprehensive training for motivated candidates. As an Assistant, you will work alongside our experienced technicians, providing essential support in all phases of water damage mitigation and restoration projects, often under urgent circumstances. This role requires flexibility, physical stamina, and a willingness to be available for evening, weekend, and holiday call-outs, with significant opportunities for overtime.
Key Responsibilities
- Assist lead technicians with water extraction, demolition, and structural drying procedures.
- Set up and monitor drying equipment, including dehumidifiers, air movers, and specialized drying systems.
- Perform minor demolition, debris removal, and general site clean-up.
- Safely handle and transport equipment and materials to and from job sites.
- Document work progress, including photographic evidence and detailed notes, as directed.
- Ensure all safety protocols are followed on job sites, including the proper use of personal protective equipment (PPE).
- Communicate effectively with team members, supervisors, and clients.
- Participate in the on-call rotation, responding promptly to emergency service calls.
- Maintain cleanliness and organization of vehicles, equipment, and the warehouse.
- Learn and adhere to IICRC (Institute of Inspection, Cleaning and Restoration Certification) standards.
Required Skills
- Valid driver's license with a clean driving record.
- Ability to lift and move heavy equipment (up to 50 lbs) repeatedly.
- Strong work ethic and a positive, can-do attitude.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
- Ability to work effectively in a team environment.
- Willingness to learn new skills and follow instructions.
- Punctual and reliable, with a strong commitment to being on time for shifts and call-outs.
- Flexible availability, including evenings, weekends, and holidays for on-call duties.
- Comfortable working in various environments, including those with water damage, mold, and other potential hazards.
Preferred Qualifications
- High school diploma or equivalent.
- Previous experience in a physically demanding role (e.g., general labour, construction, landscaping).
- Basic knowledge of tools and equipment.
- First Aid and CPR certification.
- IICRC certifications (e.g., WRT – Water Restoration Technician) are a definite asset but not required.
