Job Description
Are you a student passionate about environmental science, public health, and sustainable water management? Sydney Water is offering an exciting entry-level internship as a Water Quality Intern. Key Responsibilities
- Assist in the collection and preparation of water samples from various sources including rivers, reservoirs, and treatment plants.
- Support laboratory technicians with basic testing and analysis of water quality parameters.
- Perform data entry and assist with the compilation of water quality reports and documentation.
- Accompany senior staff on site visits to water treatment facilities, pumping stations, and environmental monitoring locations.
- Adhere strictly to all health, safety, and environmental protocols and procedures.
- Contribute to research and special projects related to water quality improvement initiatives.
- Participate in team meetings and training sessions to enhance understanding of water utility operations.
Required Skills
- Currently enrolled in an undergraduate or postgraduate degree program in Environmental Science, Chemistry, Chemical Engineering, Civil Engineering, or a related scientific/technical field.
- Strong verbal and written communication skills.
- Exceptional attention to detail and accuracy.
- Proficiency in basic computer applications (e.g., Microsoft Office Suite).
- Ability to work effectively both independently and as part of a team.
- A strong eagerness to learn and a proactive approach to tasks.
- Demonstrated interest in water quality, environmental protection, or public health.

- Basic understanding of water treatment processes or environmental regulations.
