Job Description
AECOM is seeking a dedicated and enthusiastic Water & Wastewater Engineer to join our dynamic team in San Diego, CA. This role is designed to support a skilled worker on a defined route to professional development and integration into our projects. You will be instrumental in the planning, design, and implementation of critical water and wastewater infrastructure projects that serve communities across the region. The Skilled Worker Route Supported program offers comprehensive mentorship, training, and resources to accelerate your expertise and career growth within AECOM, ensuring you are equipped with the specialized knowledge and skills required for success in complex engineering challenges. This is an on-site position, offering direct collaboration and hands-on experience.
Key Responsibilities
- Participate in the planning, design, and analysis of water and wastewater treatment plants, pumping stations, distribution, and collection systems.
- Prepare engineering reports, calculations, and technical specifications for various project phases.
- Assist in the development of hydraulic models, process simulations, and other engineering tools.
- Collaborate with senior engineers and project managers to ensure projects are delivered on time, within budget, and to the highest quality standards.
- Conduct site visits, inspections, and field investigations as required.
- Ensure compliance with local, state, and federal regulations and industry standards.
- Support the preparation of proposals, cost estimates, and project schedules.
- Engage in continuous professional development through the Skilled Worker Route Supported program, including mentorship and specialized training.
- Communicate effectively with clients, regulatory agencies, and project stakeholders.
Required Skills
- Bachelor's degree in Civil, Environmental, or Chemical Engineering from an accredited institution.
- 2+ years of experience in water or wastewater engineering projects.
- Strong understanding of hydraulic principles and water/wastewater treatment processes.
- Proficiency in AutoCAD, Microsoft Office Suite, and engineering design software (e.g., WaterCAD, SewerCAD, ArcGIS).
- Excellent analytical, problem-solving, and communication skills.
- Ability to work effectively in a team environment and manage multiple tasks.
- Authorization to work in the U.S. without sponsorship.
Preferred Qualifications
- Master's degree in Civil or Environmental Engineering.
- Engineer-in-Training (EIT) certification or progress towards Professional Engineer (PE) licensure in California.
- Experience with regulatory permitting processes (e.g., NPDES, CCR Title 22).
- Familiarity with project management principles and software.
- Demonstrated experience in client interaction and proposal development.
