Job Description
As a Recycling Plant Quality Sorter, you will play a crucial role in our mission to divert waste from landfills and promote a sustainable future. You will be responsible for meticulously sorting recyclable materials on a conveyor belt, ensuring quality control, and contributing to the efficient operation of our recycling facility. This is an immediate hire position, and all necessary Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) will be provided. Full training will be given to successful candidates, making this an excellent opportunity for individuals looking to start a career in the environmental services sector.
Key Responsibilities
- Sort various recyclable materials (e.g., plastics, paper, glass, metals) on a conveyor belt according to established guidelines.
- Identify and remove non-recyclable items or contaminants to ensure material purity.
- Maintain a clean and organized workstation.
- Adhere to all safety protocols and wear provided PPE at all times.
- Communicate effectively with team members and supervisors regarding material flow or issues.
- Assist with other general labor tasks as needed within the plant.
Required Skills
- Ability to work in a fast-paced environment.
- Strong attention to detail for quality sorting.
- Reliable and punctual with a strong work ethic.
- Ability to stand for extended periods and perform repetitive tasks.
- Basic understanding of workplace safety (or willingness to learn and adhere to safety guidelines).
- Legally authorized to work in Canada.
Preferred Qualifications
- Previous experience in a manufacturing, warehouse, or recycling environment is an asset but not required.
- Ability to lift up to 25 kg (55 lbs) occasionally.
- Team-oriented attitude and ability to work collaboratively.
