Job Description
We are seeking a highly motivated and enthusiastic Statistician Intern for a Data Analysis Placement within our Palmerston North team. This is an excellent entry-level opportunity for students or recent graduates eager to gain practical experience in applying statistical methods and data analysis techniques in a real-world corporate environment. You will work alongside experienced professionals, contributing to various projects that drive business insights and operational efficiency. Full training will be provided, making this an ideal role for individuals with a foundational understanding of statistics and a strong desire to learn and grow.
Key Responsibilities
- Assist in the collection, cleaning, and preparation of various datasets for analysis.
- Perform preliminary data analysis using statistical software and methods.
- Contribute to the development of reports and dashboards to visualize key findings.
- Support senior statisticians and data analysts in ongoing projects.
- Participate in team meetings and contribute ideas for data-driven solutions.
- Learn and apply new statistical techniques and data analysis tools.
- Document processes and methodologies used in data analysis tasks.
Required Skills
- Strong foundational understanding of statistical concepts.
- Excellent analytical and problem-solving abilities.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Excel for data manipulation.

Preferred Qualifications
- Currently enrolled in or recently completed a Bachelor's or Master's degree in Statistics, Mathematics, Data Science, Computer Science, or a related quantitative field.
- Some exposure to statistical programming languages (e.g., R, Python, SAS) or data visualization tools (e.g., Power BI, Tableau).
- Experience with database querying (e.g., SQL) is a plus but not required.
