Job Description
Join our dedicated team at Front Range Wildlife Haven as a Wildlife Rescue Center Laborer. This vital full-time role involves significant physical effort, primarily focused on maintaining a clean, safe, and hygienic environment for our recovering wildlife patients. While the work is physically demanding, involving heavy cleaning and repetitive tasks, it offers immense personal satisfaction knowing you are directly contributing to the well-being and successful rehabilitation of animals in need. Full training will be provided for all tasks, making this an excellent opportunity for individuals passionate about animal welfare, even without prior professional experience in wildlife care.
Key Responsibilities
- Perform rigorous daily cleaning and sanitization of animal enclosures, kennels, and treatment areas.
- Operate and maintain cleaning equipment, ensuring proper use and storage.
- Handle and dispose of waste, including animal waste and used bedding, according to strict health and safety protocols.
- Assist with general facility maintenance, including laundry, dishwashing, and organizing supplies.
- Monitor cleanliness standards and report any maintenance needs or potential hazards.
- Follow all safety procedures and guidelines for working in an animal care environment.
- Contribute to a compassionate and supportive atmosphere for both animals and staff.
Required Skills
- Ability to perform physically demanding tasks, including lifting up to 50 lbs, bending, standing, and walking for extended periods.
- Strong work ethic and a proactive approach to cleanliness and hygiene.
- Reliable and punctual with a commitment to consistent attendance.
- Willingness to learn and adhere to strict protocols for animal care and facility maintenance.
- Comfortable working in an environment with various animals and associated odors.
- Ability to work effectively both independently and as part of a team.
Preferred Qualifications
- Prior experience in a physically demanding role or a cleaning-focused position.
- Basic understanding of animal welfare principles or a strong interest in wildlife.
- Valid Colorado driver's license.
