Job Description
We are seeking a dedicated and hardworking Paint Scraping & Prep Laborer to join our team in Knoxville, TN. This entry-level position is essential for ensuring the highest quality finish on our manufactured homes. You will be responsible for preparing surfaces for painting by scraping, sanding, and cleaning, working both indoors within our manufacturing facilities and outdoors on various stages of home production. This is a physically demanding role requiring manual dexterity, attention to detail, and a commitment to safety and quality. Full training will be provided to ensure you are equipped with all the necessary skills to excel in this role.
Key Responsibilities
- Scrape, sand, grind, and clean surfaces using hand and power tools to remove old paint, rust, and other debris.
- Prepare surfaces for new coatings, ensuring they are smooth, clean, and free of imperfections.
- Mask and protect adjacent surfaces, fixtures, and components as needed.
- Mix and prepare various paints, primers, and coatings according to specifications.
- Assist painters by ensuring a continuous supply of prepared surfaces and materials.
- Inspect prepared surfaces for quality and adherence to company standards.
- Adhere to all safety protocols and use personal protective equipment (PPE) at all times.
- Maintain a clean and organized work area, including proper disposal of waste materials.
- Perform other general labor duties as assigned.
Required Skills
- Ability to perform physically demanding tasks for extended periods (lifting, bending, standing, kneeling).
- Strong attention to detail and a commitment to quality workmanship.
- Ability to follow verbal and written instructions accurately.
- Basic understanding of safety procedures and willingness to learn and adhere to all safety policies.
- Reliable and punctual with a strong work ethic.
- Willingness to work in various environmental conditions (indoor and outdoor, varying temperatures).
Preferred Qualifications
- High school diploma or GED equivalent.
- Prior experience in a labor, construction, or manufacturing environment (not strictly required, but a plus).
- Familiarity with basic hand and power tools.
