Job Description

We are actively seeking passionate and dedicated Speech and Language Pathologists to join our dynamic team in Hagerstown, Maryland. As a Speech and Language Pathologist at Meritus Health, you will play a crucial role in assessing, diagnosing, and treating individuals with communication and swallowing disorders across various age groups. Key Responsibilities

  • Conduct comprehensive assessments to diagnose speech, language, cognitive, and swallowing disorders.
  • Develop individualized treatment plans based on patient needs, evidence-based practices, and established goals.
  • Provide direct therapy services to patients with diverse diagnoses in various settings (inpatient, outpatient, rehabilitation).
  • Monitor patient progress, adjust treatment plans as necessary, and document all aspects of care accurately and timely.
  • Educate patients and their families on communication strategies and compensatory techniques.
  • Collaborate effectively with interdisciplinary teams, including physicians, nurses, occupational therapists, and physical therapists.
  • Participate in professional development activities and continuing education to maintain licensure and enhance clinical skills.
  • Adhere to all ethical guidelines, professional standards, and regulatory requirements.
  • Contribute to a positive and collaborative work environment.
  • Supervise clinical fellows or students as needed.

Required Skills

  • Master's or Doctoral degree in Speech-Language Pathology from an accredited program.
  • Demonstrated clinical competency in assessment and treatment of communication and swallowing disorders.
  • Strong interpersonal and communication skills (verbal and written).
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a multidisciplinary team.
  • Effective time management and organizational skills.
  • Proficiency in electronic health record (EHR) systems.
  • Commitment to patient-centered care and ethical practice.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Certificate of Clinical Competence in Speech-Language Pathology (CCC-SLP) from the American Speech-Language-Hearing Association (ASHA) or eligibility for.
  • Maryland State licensure or eligibility for licensure as a Speech-Language Pathologist.
  • Previous experience in a hospital or rehabilitation setting.
  • Experience with diverse patient populations and cultural backgrounds.
  • Fluency in additional languages (e.g., Spanish).
  • Experience with dysphagia management and instrumental assessments (e.g., FEES, Modified Barium Swallow Studies).
