Job Description
We are seeking an experienced and dedicated Council Site Supervisor to oversee civil works and maintenance projects across the Gympie region. This crucial role involves managing on-site operations, ensuring projects are completed safely, efficiently, and to the highest standards. The successful candidate will be responsible for supervising work crews, coordinating resources, and maintaining compliance with all relevant regulations and Council policies. You will play a vital role in enhancing and maintaining the public infrastructure that serves our growing community.
Key Responsibilities
- Supervise civil works and maintenance crews, ensuring adherence to project plans, specifications, and safety standards.
- Plan and schedule daily work activities, allocate resources, and monitor progress against timelines and budgets.
- Conduct regular site inspections to ensure quality control, identify potential issues, and implement corrective actions.
- Manage contractor performance and ensure compliance with contract terms and safety requirements.
- Prepare and maintain accurate records, including daily diaries, progress reports, and incident reports.
- Ensure all work is performed in accordance with WHS legislation, environmental regulations, and Council policies.
- Liaise effectively with internal stakeholders, external contractors, and community members.
- Provide technical guidance and support to team members, fostering a culture of continuous improvement and professional development.
- Respond to and resolve operational issues and emergencies as they arise.
Required Skills
- Proven experience in supervising civil works, road construction, and maintenance projects.
- Strong understanding of WHS legislation, environmental management, and quality assurance principles.
- Demonstrated ability to lead, motivate, and manage a diverse team.
- Excellent communication, negotiation, and interpersonal skills.
- Proficiency in reading and interpreting engineering plans, specifications, and technical documents.
- Sound knowledge of civil construction materials, plant, and equipment.
- Current C Class Driver's Licence.
Preferred Qualifications
- Certificate IV in Civil Construction Supervision or a related field.
- Traffic Control accreditation (e.g., Implement Traffic Management Plan).
- Experience with Council-specific asset management systems.
