Job Description
We are seeking a talented and experienced Piping Design Engineer to join our dynamic team in Manchester. This is an exciting opportunity to contribute to significant industrial projects, focusing on the design and layout of complex piping systems. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in 3D modeling, stress analysis, and a comprehensive understanding of industry codes and standards. Key Responsibilities
- Develop and review piping layouts, design specifications, and P&IDs.
- Perform 3D modeling of piping systems using relevant software (e.g., AutoCAD Plant 3D, SP3D, E3D).
- Conduct stress analysis for piping systems to ensure structural integrity and compliance with design codes.
- Collaborate with other engineering disciplines (process, mechanical, civil, electrical) to integrate piping designs.
- Prepare and check engineering drawings, material take-offs, and project documentation.
- Ensure all designs comply with relevant industry standards, company procedures, and safety regulations.
- Participate in design reviews, hazard assessments, and client meetings.
- Mentor junior designers and contribute to team knowledge sharing.
Required Skills
- Proficiency in 3D CAD software for piping design (e.g., AutoCAD Plant 3D, SmartPlant 3D (SP3D), E3D).
- Strong understanding of piping design principles, materials, and components.
- Knowledge of industry codes and standards (e.g., ASME B31.1, B31.3, B31.4, B31.8).
- Experience with pipe stress analysis software (e.g., CAESAR II, AutoPIPE).
- Ability to interpret P&IDs, plot plans, and equipment data sheets.
- Excellent problem-solving and communication skills.
- Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering or a related field.
Preferred Qualifications
- Master's degree in Engineering.
- Chartered Engineer status or working towards it.
- Experience in the oil & gas, chemical, power, or pharmaceutical industries.
- Familiarity with Laser Scan data and point cloud integration.
- Experience with multidisciplinary project environments.
