Job Description

Are you passionate about language, education, and supporting diverse learners? The Wirral Global Language Institute is seeking an enthusiastic and dedicated Bilingual & ESL Education Intern to join our dynamic team. This entry-level internship offers an exceptional opportunity to gain hands-on experience in supporting English as a Second Language (ESL) learners and students from bilingual backgrounds. You will work closely with experienced educators, assist in classroom activities, and contribute to the development of engaging learning materials. This role is perfect for individuals looking to start their career in education, with a particular interest in language acquisition and multicultural support. Full training and mentorship will be provided for this on-site position.

Key Responsibilities

  • Assist ESL teachers in planning and delivering engaging lessons and activities.
  • Provide one-on-one or small group support to students requiring additional language assistance.
  • Help develop and adapt educational materials suitable for diverse language levels and cultural backgrounds.
  • Support the assessment process by observing student progress and assisting with feedback.
  • Facilitate communication between students, teachers, and parents/guardians, particularly for non-English speaking families.
  • Organize and participate in cultural enrichment activities to promote language practice and cultural exchange.
  • Maintain accurate records of student attendance and progress under supervision.
  • Participate in team meetings and professional development sessions.

Required Skills

  • Fluency in English and proficiency in at least one other language (e.g., Polish, Arabic, Cantonese, Spanish, etc.).
  • Strong interpersonal and communication skills.
  • Genuine passion for education and supporting language learners.
  • Cultural sensitivity and an ability to work effectively with diverse populations.
  • Basic computer literacy (MS Office Suite, online communication tools).
  • Eagerness to learn and a proactive attitude.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Currently enrolled in a Bachelor's or Master's degree program in Education, Linguistics, Modern Languages, or a related field.
  • Previous volunteer or informal experience working with children or young adults.
  • Familiarity with various teaching methodologies for language acquisition.
