Job Description

We are seeking a dedicated and compassionate Occupational Therapy Assistant to join our multidisciplinary team in Longton. This role is crucial in supporting our Occupational Therapists to deliver high-quality patient care and rehabilitation. You will work directly with patients, assisting them in achieving their therapeutic goals, promoting independence, and improving their quality of life. Key Responsibilities

  • Assist Occupational Therapists in the assessment, planning, implementation, and evaluation of patient treatment programmes.
  • Deliver individual and group therapy sessions under the guidance of an Occupational Therapist.
  • Support patients with daily living activities, including personal care, mobility, and domestic tasks.
  • Help patients to develop and maintain skills for independent living and community integration.
  • Prepare and maintain treatment areas, ensuring they are safe, clean, and stocked with necessary equipment.
  • Educate patients and their families on therapy techniques and home exercise programmes.
  • Maintain accurate and up-to-date patient records, documenting observations and interventions.
  • Participate in team meetings and contribute to case discussions.
  • Adhere to all health and safety regulations and organisational policies.
  • Order and manage equipment as required for patient care.

  • Basic IT literacy for record keeping
  • Ability to follow instructions and work autonomously when required

Preferred Qualifications

  • NVQ Level 2/3 in Health and Social Care or equivalent qualification
  • Previous experience in a healthcare or rehabilitation setting
  • Understanding of occupational therapy principles and practices
