Key Responsibilities
- Provide high-quality customer service to Centrelink clients, both in-person and over the phone
- Assess and process client applications for various payments and services accurately and efficiently
- Provide clear, concise, and accurate information regarding Centrelink payments, services, and eligibility criteria
- Guide clients through online self-service options and assist with digital literacy where needed
- Manage client inquiries, complaints, and feedback in a professional and empathetic manner
- Collaborate with team members and other government agencies to resolve complex client issues
- Maintain accurate and confidential client records in accordance with privacy guidelines
- Participate in ongoing training and professional development to stay updated on policy changes and service offerings
Required Skills
- Strong communication skills, both verbal and written
- Ability to listen actively and empathise with clients from diverse backgrounds
- Basic computer literacy and ability to learn new software systems quickly
- Excellent problem-solving skills and attention to detail
- A strong commitment to customer service and public support
- Ability to work effectively in a fast-paced and team-oriented environment
- Resilience and adaptability when dealing with challenging situations
- Australian citizenship is a requirement for employment with Services Australia
Preferred Qualifications
- Previous experience in a customer service or administrative role (though not essential, as training is provided)
- Understanding of government services or social welfare principles
- Fluency in a language other than English will be highly regarded
