Job Description
We are seeking a passionate and dedicated English/ESL Teacher to join our esteemed faculty. This is a unique opportunity for qualified educators, including international candidates, as we are prepared to support successful applicants with Labour Market Impact Assessment (LMIA) or Certificate of Sponsorship (CoS) for work permit purposes. The successful candidate will be responsible for delivering engaging and effective English language instruction to students from diverse cultural and linguistic backgrounds, preparing them for academic pathways, professional advancement, or general communication proficiency. This role requires excellent classroom management skills, a deep understanding of ESL methodologies, and a profound commitment to student-centered learning and outcomes.
Key Responsibilities
- Plan, prepare, and deliver high-quality English language lessons covering grammar, reading, writing, listening, and speaking skills.
- Develop and implement engaging and effective lesson plans tailored to various proficiency levels and learning styles.
- Assess student progress regularly through formative and summative assessments and provide constructive, actionable feedback.
- Maintain accurate and up-to-date records of student attendance, performance, and grades.
- Create a positive, inclusive, and stimulating learning environment that encourages active participation.
- Actively participate in curriculum development initiatives and regular staff meetings.
- Provide academic support and guidance to students, fostering their confidence and autonomy.
- Adhere to the college's policies, procedures, and ethical standards.
Required Skills
- Native-level or near-native proficiency in English (C1/C2 equivalent).
- Bachelor's degree in Education, English, Linguistics, or a closely related field.
- Recognised ESL teaching qualification (e.g., CELTA, DELTA, TESOL certificate).
- Minimum of 2 years of proven experience teaching ESL to adult learners in a formal setting.
- Excellent communication, interpersonal, and robust classroom management skills.
- Demonstrated cultural sensitivity and ability to effectively work with diverse student populations.
- Proficiency in utilising educational technology and online learning platforms for lesson delivery and resource management.
Preferred Qualifications
- Master's degree in TESOL, Applied Linguistics, or a related discipline.
- Experience with preparing students for standardised English language tests (e.g., IELTS, TOEFL, Cambridge FCE/CAE).
- Prior experience teaching in an international education setting or with a focus on specific purpose English.
- Ability to speak a second language, which can be beneficial for understanding student learning challenges.
