Job Description
We are seeking a compassionate and energetic Government Funded Youth Worker to join our team for evening and weekend shifts. This vital role involves direct engagement with youth in our community centers and program sites, providing supervision, mentorship, and facilitating structured activities. You will play a crucial part in creating a supportive and positive atmosphere, helping young people develop life skills, build self-esteem, and make healthy choices. Key Responsibilities
- Facilitate engaging and age-appropriate educational, recreational, and social activities.
- Provide mentorship and guidance to youth, promoting positive behaviors and conflict resolution.
- Ensure the safety and well-being of all participants during program hours.
- Maintain accurate records of attendance, incidents, and program activities.
- Collaborate with parents, guardians, and other team members to support youth development.
- Assist with program planning, preparation, and clean-up.
- Enforce program rules and guidelines consistently and fairly.
- Serve as a positive role model and advocate for youth in the community.
Required Skills
- High school diploma or GED.
- Demonstrated passion for working with youth.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
- Ability to work effectively in a team environment.
- Patience, empathy, and strong problem-solving abilities.
- Willingness to undergo and pass a comprehensive background check.
- Availability to work consistent evening and weekend shifts.
Preferred Qualifications
- Associate's or Bachelor's degree in Social Work, Education, Psychology, or a related field.
- Prior experience (paid or volunteer) working with youth in a structured setting.
- Bilingual proficiency in Spanish and English (highly valued in Laredo).
- First Aid and CPR certification (or willingness to obtain within 3 months of hire).
- Valid Texas Driver's License and reliable transportation.
