Job Description

The Sainte-Anne-des-Monts Municipal Public Works Department is seeking a dedicated and reliable Reservoir & Dam Maintenance Assistant to join our team. Key Responsibilities

• Assist in routine visual inspections of dam structures, spillways, and surrounding areas for signs of wear, damage, or unusual conditions.
• Participate in the maintenance and repair of dam components, including operating gates, valves, and monitoring control mechanisms.
• Clear debris, sediment, and unwanted vegetation from dam sites and reservoir surroundings to ensure proper water flow and access.
• Monitor water levels, pressure gauges, and other instrumentation, accurately recording data and reporting any anomalies or concerns to senior staff immediately.
• Assist with data collection, precise record-keeping, and documentation related to all maintenance activities and observations.
• Operate and maintain various hand tools and light equipment (e.g., mowers, trimmers, small pumps) safely and efficiently.
• Adhere strictly to all established safety protocols, environmental regulations, and departmental policies.
• Support emergency response efforts related to dam and reservoir operations, including assisting with flood prevention measures or repairs.
• Perform general labor tasks as required to support the overall maintenance of municipal infrastructure.

Required Skills

• High school diploma or equivalent education.
• Ability to work outdoors consistently in various weather conditions and challenging terrain.
• Strong attention to detail and excellent observational skills.
• Basic mechanical aptitude and familiarity with hand tools.
• Willingness to learn, follow instructions diligently, and adapt to new procedures.
• Physical fitness required for manual labor, including lifting up to 50 lbs, bending, climbing, and standing for extended periods.
• Valid Class 5 Quebec driver's license (or equivalent) with a clean driving record is mandatory.

Preferred Qualifications

• Prior experience in a labor-intensive role, outdoor work, or construction.
• Basic knowledge of plumbing or electrical systems.
• First Aid and CPR certification.
• Bilingualism (French and English) is considered a strong asset for effective communication within the team and community.
