Job Description
We are seeking a dedicated and reliable Public Sector Procurement Driver to join our essential team based in Chichester. This role involves the safe and timely collection and delivery of various goods, equipment, and supplies to public sector sites across West Sussex, using a light van. You will be a crucial link in the supply chain, ensuring that our public sector clients receive the items they need to operate effectively. This position requires excellent organizational skills, attention to detail, and a commitment to customer service.
Key Responsibilities
- Safely operate a light commercial vehicle (LCV) for the transportation of goods.
- Perform daily vehicle checks and maintain vehicle cleanliness, reporting any defects promptly.
- Collect and deliver procurement items, including mail, parcels, equipment, and supplies, to designated public sector sites.
- Load and unload vehicles efficiently and securely, ensuring all items are handled with care.
- Verify delivery contents against manifests and obtain necessary signatures upon delivery and collection.
- Adhere to all road safety regulations, company policies, and public sector site rules.
- Maintain accurate delivery logs and complete all necessary paperwork.
- Communicate effectively with public sector staff, suppliers, and internal teams.
- Manage time effectively to ensure all scheduled deliveries and collections are completed on time.
Required Skills
- Valid UK Driving License (Category B) with no more than 3 penalty points.
- Proven experience in commercial driving or delivery roles (at least 1 year).
- Excellent knowledge of local roads and navigation systems.
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
- Ability to lift and carry items safely, adhering to manual handling guidelines.
- Reliability, punctuality, and a strong work ethic.
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
- Demonstrable commitment to health and safety procedures.
Preferred Qualifications
- Previous experience working within a public sector or government contract environment.
- Experience with basic vehicle maintenance and troubleshooting.
- Familiarity with inventory management or procurement processes.
- Enhanced DBS check (or willingness to undergo one).
