Job Description
Are you a highly motivated and physically capable individual looking for an immediate opportunity in the rapidly expanding geothermal energy sector? Kier Group is seeking dedicated Geothermal Drilling Assistants (Mates) to join our dynamic team in Macclesfield. This is a hands-on manual labor role offering excellent pay for those committed to hard work and learning. You will play a crucial role in supporting our geothermal drilling operations, assisting experienced drillers and ensuring the efficient and safe execution of projects. Full training on geothermal specific procedures and equipment will be provided, making this an ideal role for individuals with a strong work ethic and a desire to build a career in renewable energy.
Key Responsibilities
- Assist senior drilling operators with all aspects of geothermal drilling operations.
- Handle and move drilling equipment, tools, and materials safely and efficiently.
- Maintain a clean and organised work site, adhering to all health and safety regulations.
- Conduct pre-start checks on equipment and report any faults or maintenance needs.
- Perform general manual labor tasks as required, including digging, lifting, and carrying.
- Learn and apply best practices for environmental protection during drilling activities.
- Participate actively in all safety briefings and adhere to site-specific safety protocols.
- Support the setup and dismantling of drilling rigs and ancillary equipment.

Preferred Qualifications

- Valid UK Driving Licence (Category B or higher).
- First Aid at Work certification.
- CSCS Card (Construction Skills Certification Scheme).
- Experience operating basic plant machinery (e.g., telehandler, mini-digger).
