Job Description
We are seeking highly motivated and physically capable individuals to join our team as Drydock / Shipyard Laborers at our Blyth facility. This is an essential role within a dynamic and demanding heavy industrial environment, vital to the repair and maintenance of a diverse range of vessels. You will be instrumental in supporting skilled trades and ensuring the safe and efficient operation of the drydock. This position requires a strong work ethic, reliability, and the ability to thrive in a challenging outdoor environment. Full training will be provided to ensure you have the skills and knowledge to perform your duties safely and effectively.
Key Responsibilities
- Perform general clean-up and housekeeping duties across the shipyard, drydocks, and workshops to maintain a safe and organized environment.
- Assist skilled trades (e.g., welders, pipefitters, electricians, painters) with various tasks, including moving tools, materials, and equipment.
- Handle and transport heavy items manually or using appropriate lifting equipment, adhering to safety protocols.
- Operate basic hand and power tools under supervision, after receiving proper training.
- Assist with the preparation of surfaces for painting, welding, or other repairs, including grinding and cleaning.
- Adhere strictly to all health, safety, and environmental policies and procedures at all times.
- Support the maintenance and upkeep of shipyard facilities and equipment.
- Follow instructions from supervisors and team leaders accurately and efficiently.
- Work effectively as part of a team to meet project deadlines and operational goals.
Required Skills
- Excellent physical fitness and stamina to perform demanding manual labor in varying weather conditions.
- Strong work ethic, reliability, and punctuality.
- Ability to follow verbal and written instructions accurately.

- Basic understanding of workplace safety principles.
- No prior specific shipyard experience required; full training will be provided.
Preferred Qualifications
- Previous experience in a heavy industrial, construction, manufacturing, or outdoor labor environment.
- Valid UK Driving License.
- Basic knowledge of industrial tools and equipment.
- CSCS card or similar health and safety certification.
