Job Description
We are seeking a highly skilled and meticulous Electronics Technician to join our team in Gladstone, QLD. This role is crucial for maintaining the operational integrity of our diverse electronic equipment, primarily focusing on component-level diagnosis and repair. The successful candidate will be responsible for troubleshooting complex electronic circuits, performing precise soldering and de-soldering tasks, and ensuring all repairs meet stringent quality and safety standards. This is an on-site position vital to our industrial operations.
Key Responsibilities
- Perform component-level diagnostics and repair on a wide range of electronic circuit boards and equipment.
- Utilize various test equipment (oscilloscopes, multimeters, function generators) to identify faults and verify repairs.
- Read and interpret schematics, wiring diagrams, and technical manuals.
- Execute precise soldering and de-soldering of surface mount and through-hole components.
- Calibrate and test repaired equipment to ensure optimal functionality and compliance with specifications.
- Document all repairs, maintenance activities, and parts used accurately and comprehensively.
- Adhere strictly to all safety protocols and company procedures, including Lock-Out/Tag-Out (LOTO).
- Collaborate with engineering and operational teams to improve equipment reliability and maintenance procedures.
- Maintain a clean and organised workshop environment.
Required Skills
- Proven experience in component-level electronic repair.
- Demonstrated proficiency in fine-pitch soldering and de-soldering techniques.
- Ability to interpret complex electronic schematics and circuit diagrams.
- Competency in using electronic test and measurement equipment.
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills for fault diagnosis.
- Excellent attention to detail and manual dexterity.
- Relevant trade qualification (e.g., Certificate IV in Electronics and Communications, Diploma of Electronics Engineering) or equivalent practical experience.
- Knowledge of safety standards and practices in an industrial environment.
Preferred Qualifications
- Experience with industrial control systems (PLCs, VFDs) and automation equipment.
- Familiarity with various communication protocols (e.g., Modbus, Ethernet/IP).
- Previous experience in a heavy industry or mining environment.
- Basic IT networking knowledge relevant to industrial applications.
- Current Australian driver's license.
