Job Description
Are you a highly motivated student with an interest in cybersecurity, risk management, and IT governance? Bank of America’s Information Assurance Internship provides a unique opportunity to gain hands-on experience in a dynamic corporate environment. As an Information Assurance Intern, you will support our IT Governance team in ensuring the security and compliance of our information systems. This role is designed for individuals seeking to build foundational knowledge in information assurance principles, regulatory requirements, and security best practices. You will collaborate with experienced professionals, contribute to ongoing projects, and develop critical skills essential for a career in information security.
Key Responsibilities
- Assist in the development, implementation, and maintenance of IT governance policies and procedures.
- Support risk assessments and compliance reviews, identifying potential vulnerabilities and recommending mitigation strategies.
- Help analyze security incident reports and assist in post-incident analysis.
- Participate in documenting security controls and preparing reports for internal and external audits.
- Conduct research on emerging cybersecurity threats, industry best practices, and regulatory changes.
- Collaborate with various IT teams to promote security awareness and ensure adherence to information assurance guidelines.
- Contribute to projects focused on improving the overall security posture and compliance framework of the organization.
Required Skills
- Currently enrolled in a Bachelor's or Master's degree program in Computer Science, Information Technology, Cybersecurity, or a related field.
- Basic understanding of information security principles, network concepts, and operating systems.
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
- Excellent written and verbal communication abilities.
- Ability to work effectively both independently and as part of a team.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, PowerPoint).
Preferred Qualifications
- Prior academic coursework or projects related to cybersecurity, risk management, or IT auditing.
- Familiarity with regulatory frameworks such as NIST, ISO 27001, or financial industry regulations (e.g., GLBA, PCI DSS).
- Basic knowledge of data privacy regulations (e.g., GDPR, CCPA).
- Experience with data analysis tools or scripting languages (e.g., Python, SQL) is a plus.
